Thought I would start a thread to keep track of new area's getting coverage.
In Jbay today and took my RAIN with me, It wont register on the network but I pickup the 2 rain networks when I do a manual scan, perhaps the back haul is not finished yet.

Hi, without talking about deals that have past or been missed.
What places offer the best LTE data deals?
I have found Webafrica to be pretty decent compared to axxess or openweb or afrihost.
Anybody found better offers? Non-contract.

How do I know if Rain Sim is activated?
I received Rain LTE from Afrihost today and I cannot connect.
I don't know if the Sim is not activated yet or if my coverage is not sufficient.

Rain LTE-A Double data still available anywhere?
Anyone know if I can still get the Rain Double Data thing from any ISP? Or did all such offers end on 30 November 2017?

Afrihost not replying to support ticket nor PM's
Hi guys, more than 3 business days since I requested a cancellation on the RAIN-LTE product I ordered.
Yet Afrihost not replying to my ticket and AfriFella and AfriGenie not replying to PM.
I want to cancel my order but it's not under the "Active Orders", yet they took the R999 for the router on the 23rd of November.
Can anyone please give insight.

Huawei B315 Port forward problem
Hello
I just bought Huawei B315 with Rain LTE-A sim
I did some port forwards and face some weird issue
I am successfully access the the ports with external network but when i try to access the forwarded ports internally via my public ip address, it not showing anything.
Please help me as i am stuck now :(

Rain LTE-A, can't register on network
I received my Huawei B618 Router and sim card from Afrihost yesterday. When I first plugged it in and saw a red light I didn't think much of it as I knew it might take some time to be RICA'd. However this problem still persists. I have spoken to Afrihost and got the usual, "Reset your router" which didn't work. When I manually scan for networks I can see the two 4G Rain networks among other but when I try and connect it fails to register to the network. I have tested the router with a Telkom sim card and it works perfectly. I'm starting to think the SIM card is faulty. Does anyone know if there is something I can do to resolve this?

Webafrica has been taking a lot of flack recently, so figured I should give credit where credit is due.
Last night my Hauwei B618 got taken out by lightning. Called Webafrica support last night at 9PM when it happened. The lady on the phone took down my details and advised that someone would contact me, she did mention that as far as she knows they do not do replacements on lightning damage.
So this morning, I contacted my insurance and started the claim through them as I was sure I would never hear from WA.
Just got off the phone with there product activations department who are replacing my router, even though they do NOT do this normally. I am getting a B315 as a replacement, which while it isn't ideal, is still very nice of them!

Huawei B315 vs B618
I would like to get Rain LTE and I have a choice between the Huawei B315 and B618. The B618 is more expensive, so is it worth the extra money?
Also would I be able to use any of these two routers if I get a fibre connection in the future?

How to get any preformance out of Rain network with B618
So folks, this has been very disappointing experience thus far.
After investing in Huawai B618s-22d and connecting XPOL-6-10M to it, locating the cell tower validating its location confirming los at ~1km distance
CELL_ID: 51235329
RSRQ: -10dB
RSRP: -69dBm
SINR: 2dB
This is the absolute best that i can get out

How can you tell is the antenna is operating?
Bought a LTE XPOL-6-10M antenna from Poynting. It came with the adaptor which plugs into the Hauwei router. Was careful to align the aerial towards the closest transmitter which is 987m away
The router detects that an external antenna is connected
With the antenna connected, at 1700MHz, I get 24.5mbps down and 2.5mps up
With it disconnected, it is 23.9 mbps down and 2.9 mbps up
With the antenna connected, at 2300MHz, I get 26.2mbps down and 2.7mps up
With it disconnected, it is 24.9 mbps down and 2.5 mbps up
Was of course hoping for a better solution
Would a YAGI offer better performance?

RAIN APN settings?
Hi,
Can someone please confirm, what is the RAIN LTE APN settings, on the Afrihost network?
Client, in Cape Town, got a RAIN LTE router from Afrihost but it's not connecting. They said we need to supply the APN settings but refuse to help me since I'm not to account holder, and the manager who signed up is on leave till next year.

New signups since the double-data promo ended?
Hi all,
I'm curious to find out how the sign-ups have been since RAIN ended their double-data promo?
I have the 2x25 GB for R299/m, though honestly I use so little that I didn't even need the double. But if I were shopping around now then RAIN would have appeared less value for money than what it did while the promo was on.
Are people still signing up?

No assistance from Afrihost or Internet Solutions. Rain network is down from 06 Dec
Hi all.
Please, advise what to do. I have fixed wireless from afrihost from 21 November 2017. In the evening of 6 December signal for rain disappeared completely. I can't get any feedback from Afrihost or internet solutions. I get only stupid advises to reboot or reset my router. Tested router in different location (town) and it works perfectly. I tried myself to get hold of IS who should deal with the matter but their contact centre can't get their LTE team also-very busy. I'm stuck.
At the same time my Vodacom and MTN signal also died. I have finally got answer from Vodacom today and they have power failure to tower that they share with MTN and owner of the property where the tower is has forbidden to have generators running.... Vodacom has dispute open with Eskom but it can be an ongoing process forever... Hope rain is not doing through Vodacom and MTN and it is not connected.
I'm in Vanderbijlpark, cherry Street.
