Going away this weekend - can I take my router and use it there?
(ie is my service locked to a specific tower or area?)

I've been experiencing problems since last night, seems to be fine in the morning throughout the day and then I get the below speeds at night. Games are unplayable as I get insanely high ping.
Ping: 61ms
Download: 2.59Mbps
Upload: 11.19Mbps
I made the mistake of contacting Rain directly, apparently you aren't allowed to ask for general information on network outages or problems if you don't have an account with them. Customer service rep was very rude on the phone.
I had previously contacted Mweb directly regarding the issue, but it seems like Rain (Iburst) does not communicate with resellers of their product.
I get the feeling that this is related to congestion on the network, I live in JHB.
Frustrating that there isn't an official response to any of the many queries that have been put forward.

I cancelled my Telkom ADSL service a month ago and today when I woke up no line, no connection, no internet, exactly 30 days after I've sent in my cancellation form - can you believe it?
As I don't have fibre in my area yet, but I am in a RAIN coverage area I want to get this ASAP. I currently have a debit order with Afrihost so I'm leaning towards using them but I also understand there are currently modem shortages. What's the big difference between the B618 and B315 modem?
Which ISP would you recommend using taking the following into account? I need it asap - If I can collect it same day(JHB), it would be first prize. I want to make use of the free router option. It must be month to month with no contracts. Looking at a 55+55GB package for around R550pm.

So just a follow up thread. I'm playing with my B618 and some other network simcards. Keen to see what they up to in terms of LTE and LTE-A
Now I can not recall seeing 4G+ with Rain once on my B618 :erm:
Put a Cellc prepaid simcard in and aligned my antenna a bit to the closest LTE-A Cellc tower and saw the B618 changed to 4G+.......

Hi all
Just wondering, I just ordered a Rain Sim from Afrihost, and was wondering if the SXT LTE will be on the allowed devices to connect to the network since now they are blocking cellular devices from accessing their network. The SXT LTE can connect to the network and is not a phone. Does anyone know

Just would like to find out how vulnerable LTE is to weather conditions, especially we who live in areas with thunderstorm activities?

As the heading - I'd like to trial it for a week - don't want to buy a modem to find out it won't work. I'm not officially in coverage area. Anyone have experience with this?

Since the 14th my ClientZone seems to be reporting zero use on my Rain 220+220 package but I am definitely using it. I have opened a ticket about this with them, but it seems to have mysteriously disappeared from my client zone.
Anybody else having issues with their usage reports?

Hi All,
Logged a support ticket for my Fixed Wireless(LTE) speed issue. Been getting below 5mb speeds in the afternoon/evening.
Received the following response:
Trust you are well and having a blessed day thus far :-)
Our system cancelled the order as we were not able to migrate your line.
If you would like to still move your line to Afrihost, please ensure that it is
cancelled on Telkom's end and moved to the holding pool. Once that
has been done please advice so that we can resubmit the migrate order on our side.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know.
The consultant could not find my number on their system at all and now I know why.
Their support system really went down the drain.

I would appreciate any feedback about using the Rain LTE network for gaming online with the PS4 or Xbox one.
Which router are you using - B315 or B618?
What is your NAT type?
Do you have any issues joining parties? Especially for games like Call of duty.

Hi guys
Just a quick few questions:
- Are RSAWEB a good service provider? (They seem to have a good LTE cancelation policy so I am thinking of going with them)
- If ISP's offer these packages, can I assume they are all offering LTE-A or could they possibly be offering a slower regular LTE package?
- Should I rather opt for Afrihost?
Thank you for your input.
